The Opera Machine

Royal Opera House

The Opera Machine is a HTML5 multi-camera experience which gives viewers an insight into the theatrical process behind the scenes during a performance of Wagner’s Die Walkure, Act III.

Users can choose from seventeen different camera angles and three different audio tracks or follow the prompt book which is used to cue the technical crew and artists. Key moments include a flaming helix and two-ton spinning wall.

I worked directly with the Head of Media at the Royal Opera House to produce this online experience. A proud moment was when Stephen Fry invited followers to play with this ‘amazing new toy’, you can too by clicking on the link below.
