walk in wonder.land
‘walk in wonder.land’ is a Kinect experience which invites visitors (up to 4) to enter the wonder.land garden. The garden comes to life when a user is detected, transforming from a night time scene to day. A luminous landscape is revealed and visitors see themselves in the magical landscape. Interacting with elements in the foreground trigger sounds and animations.
The avatar creator is a Unity app developed for the iPad Air 2, it invites visitors to create their wonder.land avatar – this is what Alice does in the show. Users create their avatar by selecting components (hair, face, body and legs) taken from five characters in the musical: Alice, Dodo, Tweedle Dee & Dum, Mouse and Mock Turtle. Once their avatar has been created there are various colour options to choose from as well as the option to enter your name. Visitors can share their avatar creation via email from the bank of iPads at the installation.
‘catface’ is a simple and playful desktop and iOS app which detects faces and replaces them with the iconic wonder.land cat face graphic, in real-time. At the enter wonder.land installation there are two executions: one camera feed stretched across three large screens and a wall of Apple devices. The iOS build invites visitors to take a catface selfie and share it via email – this has been very popular!
